Anneli Dahlén
FOUNDER
I was born and raised in the countryside in Malung, and I am a cultural ambassador for the beautiful region of Dalarna in Sweden. I want to carry on the traditions of my ancestors, and I value my roots as the 7th generation of “kurbits” painters, dating back to at least the year 1800.
It is this connection to my ancestors that have inspired me in my work today. I intend to help people increase their well-being in an innovative way. By combining all my knowledge, Swedish culture and art with new thinking regarding sound healing, meditation and a sustainable lifestyle.
Dowry chests, painted with a “kurbits” pattern by my ancestors in the 19th century.
15 year old me, wearing the traditional Swedish folk dress from Malung.
The wooden horse Sonja, first made by Dahlénkullan in 2004. It features a painted “Malungsflock” pattern, the same fabric pattern used on the lamp and cloth. Which is an old traditional pattern that was used extensively by people who lived in Malung.
